Facial Serums: Read the Label and Ask Better Appointment Questions
The word serum describes a product category, not a guarantee about strength, suitability or results. Before adding a serum to your routine or asking about one during a facial, collect the product information and the questions that matter to you. This guide does not claim that Zavira uses a particular brand, ingredient or concentration.
Bring the product information
A photograph of the front label and ingredient list is more useful than a description such as the blue bottle. Include the product name and how you use it. If you use a prescribed product, identify it as prescribed and keep the prescriber’s instructions separate from cosmetic advice.
Note when you started the product, other recent changes, and anything you want to ask about. A clear record makes it easier to explain your routine without guessing at ingredients from memory.
Separate the question from the marketing
Ask what a proposed product is intended to do in the appointment and whether it is optional. Do not assume that a high price, a professional label, or a large number on the package proves that it is the right choice for you.
The ingredient list alone is not a complete description of how a product will work for an individual. Avoid copying a complicated combination simply because an online routine lists several popular actives together.
Ask about the actual service
Before your facial, ask whether the salon needs information about your current products, sensitivities or recent procedures. During the consultation, ask which products are being proposed and how they relate to the service you booked.
If a product is recommended for home use, ask for the full name, directions, cost and who to contact with questions. You can take time to consider a purchase; it does not have to become part of the appointment automatically.
Keep a useful routine note
A practical note has four parts: what you currently use, how often you use it, what you have noticed, and what you want clarified. This is more useful than labelling your routine as basic or advanced.
For symptoms, a suspected reaction or a question about combining prescribed treatment with cosmetics, seek advice from the appropriate qualified professional. A generic serum guide cannot determine individual suitability.
