What Is a Spa Pedicure?
A spa pedicure goes well beyond a regular pedicure. Where a classic pedicure focuses on nail trimming, cuticle care, and a coat of polish, a spa pedicure layers in exfoliation, extended massage, hydrating treatments, and premium products — turning a routine nail appointment into a full relaxation experience.
At Zavira Salon & Spa in St. Boniface, Winnipeg, our spa pedicure is one of the most-requested services — and for good reason. Here's a full breakdown of what happens from the moment you sit down.
Step 1: The Foot Soak
Your spa pedicure starts with an extended warm foot soak. We use a nourishing bath with salts and conditioning agents to soften skin and relax the feet before any work begins. This isn't a quick two-minute soak — we let your feet fully relax and the skin to soften properly, which makes every step after it more effective.
Step 2: Exfoliation
Once your feet are softened, your technician applies an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin. This step is what separates a spa pedicure from a classic — proper exfoliation leaves skin visibly smoother and helps products absorb deeper. We pay attention to the heels, balls of the feet, and any rough patches.
Step 3: Nail & Cuticle Care
Your nails are shaped to your preference — square, round, oval, or squoval — and cuticles are gently pushed back and cleaned up. We take our time here. Rushed cuticle work is one of the most common complaints about discount nail bars; at Zavira, every detail gets proper attention.
Step 4: Callus Treatment
A callus file or treatment is applied to any thick or hardened areas, particularly on the heels. This step makes a noticeable difference in how your feet feel and look immediately after your appointment.
Step 5: The Foot & Calf Massage
This is the part clients come back for. Your technician works through the foot, arch, heel, and up into the calf using a premium lotion or oil. Tension built up from standing, walking, or wearing constrictive footwear releases quickly. Winnipeg winters are hard on feet — the spa pedicure massage is genuinely therapeutic, not just a quick rub.
Our standard spa pedicure includes a relaxing foot and calf massage as part of the service. If you want to go further, our Deluxe Spa Pedicure extends this to 20 minutes, and our Luxury Spa Pedicure includes 30 minutes plus hot stone treatment.
Step 6: Polish or Gel Finish
You choose your finish — regular polish or gel. Gel polish is popular for toenails because it lasts 3–4 weeks chip-free, which means your feet stay looking fresh through Winnipeg's summer sandal season or vacation trips. Our colour selection is regularly refreshed with current season shades.
How Long Does a Spa Pedicure Take at Zavira?
A standard Spa Pedicure at Zavira takes approximately 60–70 minutes. If you choose the Deluxe or Luxury version, expect 70–95 minutes. We don't rush — if you're booked in, you get the full experience.
